The 3-TC6Bio modification incorporates a biotin functionality at the 3' terminus of an oligonucleotide. Biotin binds to avidin or streptavidin conjugates in a variety of fluorescent, chemiluminescent and colorimetric assays. The biotin is conjugated to a modified thymidine which may participate in hybridization. This 3' modification also has a 3' phosphate which prevents extension of the oligonucleotide by DNA polymerase.
