Cy5; 5' Modification

The 5-Cy5 modification incorporates a fluorescent Cy™ 5 dye at the 5' terminus of an oligonucleotide. 5' Cy5 modified oligonucleotides can be used in a wide array of applications including dual-labeled fluorogenic probes for real-time PCR. This non-sulfonated cyanine based dye is water soluble and bright, fluorescing in the far-red region of the visible spectrum, and can be effectively quenched by BHQ®-2 dye. Quasar® 670 can be used as a direct replacement for the Cy 5 dye.

The CAL Fluor technology is covered by U.S. patent number 7,344,701B2. The Quasar technology is covered by U.S. Patent numbers 7,705,150B2, 7,868, 157B2 and 8,436,153B2. The Pulsar technology is covered by U.S. Patent numbers 7,635,762B2 and 8,119,781B2.
